The Wizard

1. What kind of wood is your wand be made of? Go to the Celtic Wood Chart and find which according to your birth date. (This is similar to the traditional horoscopes.) Then copy-paste the description here. Bold traits that describe you very well and strike those that do not apply to you whatsoever. Then provide a brief commentary on how accurate you think these traits are in the scope of your nature and personality.
July 8 - August 4

"The 'new moon' Holly individual is more inclined to become involved with the dreams and ambitions of others by providing both financial and emotional support. While this is indicative of an unselfish and sympathetic nature, it can lead to a blind optimism which may be personally damaging. The 'full moon' Holly individual is more committed to his or her own dreams and ambitions. Such people are likely to become the founding members of societies or business corporations while still retaining a sense of history and tradition. The 'full moon' Holly individual, however, is frequently hypersensitive to personal criticism and may be forced to retreat periodically from the world. "

Tends to have a number of close friends of both sexes. Appears to lack a sense of humor. Dislikes laughing at the expense of another. Can be reclusive. Requires a quiet place in which to take respite from huge responsibilities.

This tends to fit me pretty well… Although, I am not into the financial or insurance side of a profession. I am addicted to math and science. I am a very laid back person so I am not possessive at all… I do however, care a lot for the people around me and I tend to worry quite a bit about them.

I am a chemistry major… So I do like to blow things up. I also love the outdoors and working on my farm and taking care of my animals… Or just riding around on the tractor with my grandpa and just looking at the land that we work so hard to take care of!

I am an extremely practical person who tends to watch her back. Any decision I make… I try to have a pro/con list. I used to not think anything through…. Now the simplest things take me the longest to decide on. I like to make every one else happy… People tell me that I need to think more into what I want… But what I want it to please everyone else… In return that makes me happy. I don’t care what happens to me… I care what happens to other people though. Now, when I get really bogged down, I will make decisions for myself. I don’t like to say, “Hey, this is what I want,” but there are certain situations where everyone has to do that for them selves.

I believe in myself. And that I can complete my dream of becoming a doctor. I know it is going to be an extremely hard adventure, but I am up for the task.

2. How do you think you would use magic? On a day to day basis? Over your entire lifespan?

I am a very traditional person. I think that a person needs to put effort into their work, so I do not believe I would use magic for everything. I would use it occasionally or if I where in a hurry and needed something done, but that would be about it… I would use magic throughout my entire lifespan, but again not for everything. Although I do have to say that it would be really nice to be able to wave a wand and do some of the chores I hate… Like the dishes. That is the only chore around the whole house that I despise. Nothing else bothers me…

Magic to me, though, would be an extremely important talent. I wish we did have magical capabilities, so we would heal certain diseases or cancers. With me wanting to be a doctor, I would love to have the ability to heal almost anything. Although, fate does take its course, It might help lengthen the life span of the people closest to me, for instance my grandfather!

3. What are your strongest personality traits? Your weakest?

I am extremely down to earth. But I am not afraid to take a risk every now and again. My thought on life is, “If you don’t try, then you will never know!” I tend to always give people the benefit of the doubt too. But once they hurt me or someone I am really close with, I have a hard time forgiving. My main weakness is that I fall hard and fast for people. I tend to wear my heart on my sleeve and get hurt quite a bit by doing so.

Making decisions is a hard thing for me though. If anyone asks me where I would want to go or do… I always say I don’t care… because I really don’t… But again I like to please everyone, so I always let them make the decisions. It gets pretty stressful however when you are hanging out with some people that are the same way as you… They just don’t care either… It takes most of the night just to decide what we are going to do and by the time that we do, sometimes it is too late!!! You gotta love IHOP at 2 in the morning though!

I believe myself to have more strengths than weaknesses. I stand up for what I believe in… And I don’t let anyone get in my way of what I think is right. For example, my dad… He has recently told my little brother who is 8 that I hurt him deeply because I am drinking… and that he was disappointed in me… It wouldn’t be that bad… If I where drinking… And I told him that. I did admit to the one time that I did get drunk a couple of months ago…. But I hated it… I didn’t like the feeling that I knew where I was but couldn’t control anything in my present state of mind… I also thought that it was not a proper thing to tell an 8 year old.

4. If you could solve world hunger by killing one person would you? Explain why or why not.

That is a really tough decision. Right off the bat I would say yes, but now that I think about it, what if that one person I would kill had a family? I would never be able to put someone through the hurt of losing someone close to them. It is a horrible feeling. With family meaning the most in the world to me and recently losing my grandma… I would definitely now have to say no. But on the other hand, if the person I would kill was not well liked at all by anyone… Then I would have to say yes. There are just a lot of stipulations I would have to set and look at.

5. Who would you say is your role model? Explain.

My role model and my hero… Is my Grandfather. He has been there for me through all of my hardships. When my dad kicked me out when I was 17… Explanation: My dad and I got into an argument, over his brother not wanting to see him… And my dad’s girl friend came over… And she has never liked me… But my dad told me that since I loved my grandparents so much and I cared more about them than him… That I should just go and live with them… I called them and they advised me to call the police… I did… I left that night with two police officers and two bags of clothes… My dad’s girl friend stayed in the Kitchen the entire time the police was there… She now has a baby by my dad… and I have been replaced, but I am so much better off with out him controlling my life. And by the way, the grandparents I am so close to are my dad’s parents. My dad’s entire side of the family has disowned him… He is no longer a member of the family because of what he did to me. He was there for me. I can count on one hand all the times my grandpa has ever told me he loved me…
- The night my mom moved out and my dad filed for divorce
- The night my dad kicked me out
- The night my dad caused me not to go to the University I wanted to because he caused me to lose all of my scholarships and financial aide for college
- Finally, the night my grandmother on my mother’s side passed away
And for that I am thankful. I know he loves me not because he says it, but because he shows it to me every day!

He was in a really bad tractor accident, and now every day is a good day to him because he is alive and I admire that! He didn’t let it get to him… He always tries to make everyone he meets laugh… Weather or not the joke he is saying makes any sense…

6. How do you respond to confrontation?

It depends. I really don’t like confrontation. If it is something that I deem as being really stupid and childish, I will just walk away and shake my head. Then I will avoid the person that made the confrontation until they settle down. If it is something that I believe in, then I will stand there and fight till the end. Especially if it is defending one of my family members. To put it nicely… Don’t mess with my family!

An example of me backing down would be… My dad… Again… I know he is in here a lot… But my grandmother has had multiple problems with her eyes. She has diabetes and the disease has almost made her go blind. Well, she underwent an extremely risky surgery where they actually reshaped the back of her eye… Well my dad and she got into an argument, and he proceeded to tell her that he wished she would never see again… Sure that was very hurtful to my grandmother, but what could I do about it? So, I sat back and kept my mouth shut… But I will admit I was pretty pissed off!

An example of where I would not set back… My band director in high school was accused of sexual harassment… My band director was my sanity when I was in high school… He helped me through all the problems I had with my dad… Well… We all knew the girl was lying… She wanted the money that she could get from the school… (She is now suing for 17 million dollars)… But they where making us throw all of his personal affects away… My friends and I protested… Bigger than life… We did not think it was right because at this point he was only accused… Nothing was final and official. Well, It went to court and by this time, the Board of Education had already “released him from his duties” and he was found NOT GUILTY… They tried to tuck their tails and offer him his job back… But they had done so much damage… He lost his wife over this… and almost his kids. He lost his youth pastor job… He lost his “kids” (his band students)… We still support him today 100%.

7. What values are important in your life?

My family means the world to me… My family is the only people that have been there with me though everything. I personally believe that a person should never turn their backs on their family members no matter what the circumstances. Look at my dad… He did… And now he has nothing and is depressed all the time… I still talk with him every once in a while because he is my dad… But he did it to himself!

My friends are now my sanity. I have the best friends ever… When I was younger I never had any friends. I was always bossy and I lied about everything… With everything that has happened to me… I look back and see what a little hellion I was… I was spoiled and got everything my way… Now I work so hard for what I do have… And look back and see how much it has changed me as a person… And see all the great people I have in my life to show for it!

8. If you were to face a boggart, what would it turn into?

My grandfather dying. That will by far be the worst day of my life… And I am so afraid because I know it is creeping closer and closer. When that day comes… My life will end… It makes me cry now thinking about it… Because he is my absolute world… If it wasn’t for him I would not be here today, typing on this computer, to let you all sort me into a house of Hogwarts.

To stop it… I have no idea what it would change into… This is my biggest fear in life… and right now I don’t see anything at all that makes it any better.

The World

9. What makes a person respectable?

I think that their personal values make a person respectable. I don’t see someone with a lot of money and power as a person of respect. A person who receives respect from me has a strong sense of morals… And they must have a lot of wisdom. You also have to be able to trust a person whom you respect.

For instance I trust my grandfather with my life. I have been riding on his tractor with him all my life… I know that he would never do anything to put me into danger of wrecking… We have been on hillsides and slopes that are really steep and he always has be drive, so I would be the one to be protected from the roll cage… and he would take the hit. That to me… GAINS ALL MY RESPECT! Another thing my grandpa does that I respect is the fact that he gives everyone a chance no matter who you are… Now once you cross him… It takes him a long time to warm back up to you. ( I take this trait from him honestly)

Other people you have to respect are the people who risk their lives every day to save others… I am talking about our police officers and Firefighters… I am not to familiar with any police officers, but I grew up around my local VOLUNTEER fire department. People actually volunteer their time to run into burning buildings to save someone’s life… That to me is amazing… For instance 9-11… it is a very touchy subject with me… I knew a firefighter who died on that day… I believe in my heart of hearts that he knew he would no come back… He wrote a note while waiting to climb the stairs to his family telling them how much he loved them and how he would always take care of them… It just sends chills straight through me!

10. Which of the basic elements do you identify with the most: Earth, Air, Fire, or Water?

I feel like I am with water… I love it… There is nothing better than setting outside and watching a thunderstorm or taking extremely long hot baths! It just relaxes me what ever I do.

11. Do you believe there can be a truly selfless act?

Yes, I do… Believe it or not, there are some people in this world who do not care about themselves, but for the good of others. Look at our public service personnel. Our firefighters and police officers… Not to mention the men and women in the Military that risks their lives every day for the chance to save one life. To me that is completely selfless.

And look at my grandpa… He would do anything in the world for me… he sees me as his “perfect son”. (Yes, he knows I am a girl) I am the one who is always there to offer a helping hand and not ask for anything in return… So in return he would give his life for me, but I would do the same for him as well!

12. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you choose and why?

I love it where I am now… I just wish it wasn’t so humid all the time. So, if I could, I would pick up my lil farm and take it to Alaska… I hear it isn’t so humid…

The Reader

13. Have you read all of the Harry Potter Books? If yes, which book is your favorite and why? If no, which book is your favorite so far and why haven't you finished the rest?

I have read all the books. My favorite would have to be the POA. Harry finally found someone he can call family. I could only imagine how horrible it must have been to know that there wasn’t someone always there to support you no matter what. (Meaning the first eleven years of his life). Sirius gave Harry hope for the future and showed him that he was something special. He also showed Harry a type of love that he had not seen before. The type of love that saved his life when he was a baby! That to me is an amazing feeling… especially a feeling you get from reading a BOOK!

14. Who is your favorite character in the HP series? Why?

Hermione, because I relate myself with her. I am a lot like her. I am the brainy one out of all of my friends, and I try and think everything through before I do it. I try to follow the rules, but also know that there are some times that rules need to be broken for the greater good. I am a book worm too… I always try and stay on top of my homework… She always gets all the good grades… I used too… In high school… College is a little more difficult, but I am trying to get things done!

15. Which character is your least favorite in the HP series? Why?

Until the last book it is Snape. Knowing what all he was doing to protect Harry, now makes sense. But before the last book, I could care less about him… To me he was a jerk. Snape used to, well in my opinion, go out of his way to make sure Harry and his friends should get expelled from the school. I mean sure you may not like someone, but you should not take away the one thing that means the most to them.

But, after the last book, it all kinda made sense. Love is a very powerful feeling. And, I know that if someone reminds you of the one person that you completely care for, but you can no longer see or talk to them, then you will do everything in your power to get the person who reminds them of you away from you… Because it hurts so deeply.

16. If you were a part of the HP series, what canon character(s) would you be friends with and why? Which character(s) do you think you would not get along with?

I would have to see myself being friends with Luna… Again I wear my heart on my sleeve and I try and see all the good in people. I would feel extremely sorry for her, because everyone thought she was crazy. But in all reality she didn’t know any better and was still grieving for her mother.

17. Choose a quote from one of the HP books. ANY quote. Be sure to cite who said it and explain why it is your favorite.

"There are all kinds of courage. It takes a great deal of courage to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends."—Albus Dumbledore

I love this quote because it is so true. It takes a strong willed person to stand up to the people who mean the most to you. When someone stands up to their friends like this, while doing so, in the back of their mind they will worry about losing this person as a friend. But their true friends will always stick around no matter what is said. I had to stand up to my cousin once who is like my sister. She was ruining her life… She was spending all her money on her girl friend at the time… and couldn’t even afford to eat… I had to do something… So I intervened… I made her set down and look at everything… She thanks me for it to this day…. Needless to say… the girl broke it off with her when she wasn’t getting her way!
